What is Cholesterol

What is cholesterol?  There are many myths or confusions about cholesterol. LDL Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol are the only two types of cholesterol in our body. Yet, many people are still confused about it.

I promise you this: After reading this article or other cholesterol articles on this website, you will know more about it then anyone else. And you will be the one educating your family and friends.

So let’s get started.

What is cholesterol and why our body needs it

Cholesterol is a crystalline substance made up from fats. You can actually find cholesterol around the body – in the brain, liver, blood or bile.

Cholesterol is manufactured by liver. Liver is our own body’s filtration system and needs to be cleaned properly. Like a car filter. if you do not change it, your engine will get damaged.

When was the last time you detoxified or cleansed your liver?

Some naturopathic doctors recommends to do liver and colon cleanse at least two times per year. Because I believe that liver is very important organ, I will show you how it should be cleansed.

Cholesterol is very much needed in our body, so as soon as the liver produce it, our cells use cholesterol to build membranes, build hormones, make bile salts and vitamin D.

Our veins and arteries are a cholesterol transportation lines throughout the body. Our cells take only whatever cholesterol levels they need. The rest stays in our bloodstream.

This extra cholesterol can stick to our arteries as a plague and can cause cardivascular problems right there.

There Is Bad Cholesterol And Good Cholesterol

So what are those two types of cholesterol? The first one is low density lipoproteins – LDL or “Bad” Cholesterol. The second one is high density lipoproteins – HDL or “Good Cholesterol”.

Usually our bodies are not able to use LDL cholesterol, because that one is obtained from animal proteins. And somehow our cells can’t absorb it.

That is why LDL cholesterol usually ends up plaquing the artery walls.

HDL cholesterol is made in our body and actually helps to remove excess cholesterol from tissues and the bloodstream. Many studies out there shown that if you have low levels of LDL and high levels of HDL you may decrese your risk of heart disease.
